Some love stories begin with a grand romantic gesture. Others begin with a conversation on a dating app and a first meeting at the local pub.
For Aisha and James, it was the latter.
After chatting for some time on Match, the two finally met at The Squirrel, their local pub. From that first meeting grew a relationship built around the things that matter most to them: family, laughter and simply enjoying life together.
For Aisha, one of the things she loves most about James is his kindness and caring nature. He’s a brilliant dad and step-dad, always ready to make everyone laugh and, perhaps most importantly, someone who can always be relied upon.
For James, Aisha’s fun-loving and outgoing personality is impossible not to adore. Together, their friends describe them simply as a perfect match.
And when it came to their wedding day, there was one thing that mattered above everything else: family and friends coming together, having fun and being completely present in the moment.
Brighton has always held a special place in Aisha and James’ story, so it felt only fitting that it should also be the setting for one of their biggest moments.
During a day out together, they headed onto the pier for a little fun — arcade games, fairground rides and, unbeknownst to Aisha, a rather precious piece of jewellery hiding inside James’ jeans pocket.
Keeping a ring box concealed while throwing yourself around on fairground rides was perhaps not the most sensible proposal preparation, but thankfully the ring survived.
After the pier, they wandered along the beach before stepping out onto a concrete plinth stretching towards the sea.
James then spotted something.
Or at least, he convinced Aisha that he had.
As she leaned over to look down towards the waves crashing against the concrete, James quietly stepped back, dropped to one knee and waited for her to turn around.
And there it was.
The question that would change everything.

The wedding morning began in two very different places.
James spent the morning with his best man and a few close friends, taking everything in with his characteristically quiet and thoughtful calm.

Across town, Aisha’s childhood home was a little busier.
Her mum was by her side as three bridesmaids and James’ three daughters helped with the preparations. Hair and makeup were finished, the final touches were made and, before long, the wedding dress came out.
There was something particularly lovely about Aisha getting ready in the home where so many memories had already been made. Her mum helped her into her dress, surrounded by the women who had come together to celebrate this next chapter.

Her son and her dad would soon walk her down the aisle, making the ceremony even more of a family affair.
Before leaving for the church, there was time for photographs outside with the bridesmaids, capturing the excitement of the morning before everything became very real.

By the time guests began arriving at the church, the sun was shining brightly and summer had well and truly arrived.
Inside, the heat was rising too, but none of that mattered once Aisha arrived.
With her son and dad beside her, she made her way down the aisle towards James and the moment they’d been waiting for.

The ceremony was filled with the people who mattered most to them, before the newlyweds emerged into the sunshine as husband and wife.
And then came the confetti.

A slightly unconventional confetti location meant everyone squeezed together just outside the church grounds, but somehow that only added to the fun. With petals flying and smiles everywhere, it was the perfect way to celebrate the newlyweds before heading on to the reception.
One particularly meaningful photograph from the church grounds captured something much deeper than a beautiful setting.

Aisha and James stood beneath a tree where Aisha’s mum and dad had also had their wedding photograph taken many years before.
A new marriage, beneath the same branches as another family love story.
Some photographs carry a little more history than others.
The celebrations continued at the reception, where a section of the pub had been transformed for the wedding.

Drinks flowed, guests caught up and the relaxed atmosphere allowed everyone to settle into the afternoon.

Away from the tables, Aisha and James escaped for a little time together, heading into a nearby field for their couple portraits.
The summer heat was definitely making itself known, but between the sunshine and the open countryside, there were plenty of beautiful moments to capture.

Back at the reception, the speeches brought plenty of laughter and a few emotional moments too.

The best man’s speech came with the obligatory collection of photographs from James’ stag do, much to everyone’s amusement, while Aisha’s dad delivered a heartfelt speech that brought a few tears.

And then it was James’ turn.
Whatever the exact words, one thing was unmistakable.
He absolutely adores his new wife.
After the speeches came food, drinks and time with the people who had come together to celebrate them. There were hugs, conversations, laughter and plenty of those little moments that happen when everyone has finally relaxed into the day.

As evening arrived, the dance floor opened and the newlyweds shared their first dance.

The evening settled into a more relaxed rhythm as friends and family joined them on the dance floor.

And while there were quieter moments between songs, eventually James’ mates found their way onto the dance floor too, bringing a little more energy to the party.

Because ultimately, that was exactly what Aisha and James had wanted.
A day centred around their favourite people.
A day where everyone could relax, laugh, eat, drink and enjoy being together.
Nothing overly complicated. Nothing that needed to be perfect.
Just two people, surrounded by the people they love most, beginning married life together.
And perhaps that’s the loveliest thing about Aisha and James’ wedding.
It wasn’t really about the details.
It was about the people.
The family photographs beneath a tree that had already witnessed one generation’s wedding.
The friends who stood beside them.
The children who played such an important part in the day.
The laughter during the speeches.
The dancing.
And, at the heart of it all, two people who found each other after a conversation on Match and a first date at their local pub — and decided that this was the person they wanted beside them for everything that comes next.
Congratulations, Aisha & James. 🤍
