Some love stories begin with a first date.
Some begin with a friendship.

And some begin almost thirty years before the wedding day, only to take the scenic route before finally finding their way back to each other.
Lynnette and Dale knew each other as teenagers through mutual friends. They were both in relationships at the time, so life carried them in different directions. They grew up, married other people, built families and lived entirely separate lives.
Then, nearly three decades later, they were both single again.
They started talking.
And this time, something was different.

Their first proper date was a trip to Bridgnorth to see some Italian supercars — a fairly perfect choice for Dale, as anyone who knows his love of vehicles will appreciate. They got on, they laughed, and somewhere along the way a friendship that had been sitting quietly in the background for almost thirty years became something much more.
The rest, as they say, is history.
There is something rather lovely about a love story that arrives later than expected.
Lynnette and Dale don’t take life too seriously. They work hard, but they make time for each other — even if that means doing nothing more complicated than settling down together for the evening and watching a few soaps.
They make each other laugh. They fool around. They enjoy the ordinary stuff.

And then there is Dale’s Monday tradition.
Every Monday, without fail, Lynnette receives the same message. The words stay almost exactly the same, but the number of years and weeks they have been together changes.
A little weekly reminder that another week has passed, another week has been shared, and another week has been added to the story.
It’s very Dale.
And perhaps the most telling thing about Lynnette and Dale is that neither of them needs to make a huge song and dance about how much they love each other.
You can just see it.

Dale dotes on Lynnette. Throughout their wedding day he was constantly checking that she was okay, that she was enjoying herself, that she was having fun.
And Lynnette, despite being the person who had organised so much of the day, had made sure there were plenty of little pieces of Dale woven into it too.
The cars.
The tractors.
The vehicle-named tables.
All the things that might not have mattered quite so much to her, but mattered enormously to him.
Because that’s love. Knowing what makes your person happy — and making space for it.

Dale’s proposal was every bit as unexpected as he had hoped it would be.
For Lynnette’s birthday, he treated her to a weekend at Henlle Hall, staying in a beautiful log cabin complete with a hot tub.
It was supposed to be a birthday weekend away.
Until Lynnette went into the bathroom to get ready for the hot tub, opened the door…
…and found Dale on one knee with a ring.
No elaborate warning.
No opportunity to guess what was coming.
Just Dale, a ring, and one very surprised Lynnette.
And somehow, after nearly thirty years of knowing each other, their story had arrived at the bit neither of them could have predicted all those years ago.
The morning of the wedding began at The Cliffe at Dinham, where Lynnette had stayed the night before.
She had loved having the room to herself and, the following morning, the pace was deliberately gentle. Isabelle, her Maid of Honour, and Keira, Lynnette’s daughter and bridesmaid, joined her for hair and make-up.

Lynnette was chatty but quiet — taking everything in and enjoying being pampered before the day properly began.

Then there was the dress.

It was big. Beautiful. And, when Lynnette finally stepped into it, there was absolutely no question that she had chosen the right one.

It suited her perfectly.
Her parents arrived, along with Dale’s younger daughter, before Lynnette headed downstairs into the sunshine for some photographs with Isabelle and Keira.

Waiting outside was another little piece of Dale’s world.
Classic cars.
A friend of Dale’s had brought two immaculate cars for them to travel to the wedding in — both classic Fords; an orange one for Lynnette and a white one for Dale.

For Lynnette, they were simply part of the day.
For Dale, they were rather more exciting.
And that was exactly how their wedding was shaping up: a day filled with the things they loved, both individually and together.
The sunshine that had followed Lynnette through the morning began to disappear as the ceremony at The Barn at Dinthill approached.
Clouds gathered overhead.
But the rain waited.
Just long enough.
Dale stood at the top of the outdoor aisle with his Best Man, Jason, waiting for his bride. He was nervous, but underneath the nerves were a sign of very obvious excitement.

Then Lynnette arrived.
There were no readings or elaborate ceremony additions. It was short, simple and completely about the two of them.

And perhaps that was exactly right.
Because standing there together, none of the other details really mattered.

They were in love.
They were getting married.
And that was enough.

As they were pronounced husband and wife, they walked back up the aisle to cheers from their favourite people.

And then, just before they were due to make their way through the confetti, something rather special appeared at the end of the aisle.

A vintage John Deere tractor.

Jason had arranged the surprise especially for Dale.
And the look on Dale’s face said absolutely everything.
For a moment, he had to remind himself that he was supposed to be walking through his confetti line rather than abandoning his new wife to go and investigate the tractor immediately.
Lynnette, meanwhile, knew exactly how much it meant to him.
So she walked alongside him, smiling, sharing the moment and letting her new husband enjoy his very happy tractor moment.
With the rain beginning to threaten, everyone gathered for the group photograph — with the tractor becoming an unexpectedly useful platform for getting a little extra height.

Once the formal photographs were done, guests headed off for drinks while Lynnette and Dale had a little more time with the tractor.
Dale admired it.
Dale photographed it.
Dale even climbed into it.

And Lynnette happily watched him.
Later, as the rain began to fall, the pair squeezed in a few photographs with the cars they had arrived in.

They weren’t exactly the most practical conditions for a photoshoot, but sometimes the things that matter are worth getting a little bit wet for.

As the rain properly arrived, everyone headed inside.
The room was dark and cosy, with warm golden fairy lights glowing around the space. Against the dusky pink and white colour palette, it felt completely different from the bright outdoor ceremony.

And the tables carried on the theme.
Rather than traditional table names, guests were seated at John Deere, Fendt, Ford, New Holland, Lamborghini, Claas, Case, Valtra, JCB, Steyr, Deutz-Fahr and Massey Ferguson.

The speeches came first, with Jason speaking as Best Man, followed by Dale himself.
Then it was time for food, and everyone settled in for the wedding breakfast.
Until the waiters started singing.
Only Lynnette and Dale knew what was coming.
The first clue was a waiter appearing to take a rather dramatic tumble.
Guests rushed to help — only for the fallen waiter to get back up and start singing.

It was the beginning of the singing waiters’ surprise.
Lynnette and Dale were immediately on their feet, dancing and cheering, while the performers worked their way through their set, encouraging everyone else to join them.

Eventually, they had everyone involved in a conga line, with Lynnette and Dale leading their respective teams around the room.

For a little while, the dance floor belonged to them.

And then, once the music stopped, it was time to take a breath.
After all the excitement, Lynnette and Dale headed outside for some time together.
Away from the guests.
Away from the schedule.
Just the two of them.
They took photographs beside the gypsy wagon where they were staying that night, and then headed out into the countryside.

The Malvern Hills were hidden beneath the clouds, but the weather created something else instead — a dramatic, moody sky that gave their portraits a completely different feel from the sunshine of the morning.

There were also a few more little details that were unmistakably them.
A trailer loaded with wrapped hay bales sat nearby, with their initials — L & D — marked across three of them.

Even the farming details had found their way into the wedding.
And in amongst all of those photographs, there were moments where everything became very simple again.
Lynnette and Dale together.
No guests.
No speeches.
No surprises.
Just a little time to cool down, catch their breath and enjoy being married.
There were a few more family photographs to capture before everyone headed back inside for the cake cutting and first dance.
The four-tier cupcake cake was topped by a larger cake for Lynnette and Dale to cut together.

Eventually, after a little wait, the cake was cut and the first dance began.
Lynnette and Dale took to the dance floor together, before their guests were invited to join them.

And although the dance floor ebbed and flowed throughout the evening, there were always a few familiar faces willing to get up and dance alongside them.

The night didn’t need to be enormous.
It didn’t need to be perfectly choreographed.

It was simply a celebration of two people who had found their way back to one another.
Nearly thirty years after they first knew each other as teenagers, Lynnette and Dale stood together as husband and wife.
There were classic cars.
There was a John Deere tractor.
There were vehicle-named tables, singing waiters, rain clouds, cupcakes, fairy lights and a few very determined dancers.

But underneath all of it was something much simpler.
Dale adores Lynnette.
Lynnette adores Dale.
And after all the twists and turns that brought them here, they finally get to spend the rest of the story together.
Their forever had finally begun. ❤️
